My body is changing every day. And each day my mood gets a little bit better. I hope by the end of the week I'll feel better than I do now. I've also been struggling with nightmares. I rarely have these. However, Dr. Junger talks about how nightmares are another form of toxins and negative energy leaving the body.
This, too, shall pass.
I wasn't feeling well at all this morning. I called out of work. I was drowsy and had a slight headache. I literally could not get out of bed. This cleanse is knocking a ton of energy out of me. I'm not going to attempt to predict what tomorrow will look or feel like. I will simply try to keep my thoughts positive and my energy forward-focused.
For breakfast, to revive my icky feelings I had a blueberry shake with cacao powder, almond milk, and a little bit of stevia:
It was damn delicious! I felt better after breakfast.
I did a lot of weight training today and killed my abs on the bosu. I'll be sore tomorrow for sure.
If my body says it's okay, I'm going to attempt beginning Tabata ab training.
I might even take a break from distance running this month and do tabata cardio at the outdoor track next door.
These are all ideas I'm throwing around. I'm not sure where my energy levels will be. But I hope to be exercising more than I have been this past week.
I worked up a huge appetite for lunch and made this bangin' chicken:
Baked chili lime chicken with mango, papaya, avocado, and ginger salsa. So freaking good! I'll have it again for lunch tomorrow but this time in a brown rice wrap...and I'll probably add more avocado to it!)
For dinner I attempted to make my first hemp protein shake. But the taste was awful! Clearly I need to work my way to getting accustomed to drinking a hemp protein shake. The recipe called for hemp protein powder, maca powder, 3 pears, vanilla extract, and almond milk. Yuck! I added mango to it to enhance the flavoring and added a little stevia. It still tasted disgusting. So I traded that shake in for a pineapple, mango, coconut milk shake. Muchhhhh better!
I thought the cup Mike bought me while he was in North Carolina years ago was appropriate for this shake. Palm tree and all. =)
I'm adding this and the shake I had for breakfast to my favorites list. Both simple, quick, and easy to make. Super healthy, nutritious, and packed with flavor!
Yes, I realize I haven't been getting as many veggies as I should be. I'll have to try another kale smoothie. I'll have to formulate my own recipe.
I'm dying for the kale and butternut squash quesadillas I used to make. However, I'll have to use a brown rice wrap and no cheese for it to be considered a part of the Clean diet. I'll just pack it with avocado and call it a day!
So that's day three in a nutshell basically. I'll have to keep this post short because I am so exhausted.
I'll leave you with this:
Because it really is not selfish to practice self-care. We all need to put this on the top of our list of priorities some days. Doing so allows us to spread more positive energy to others.
Take care of yourselves! xoxo
