Before I get into how it's going I want to talk about the end of the elimination phase--which was rough.
My seasonal allergies have been fluctuating this week. I want to say it's my body way of eliminating toxins. However, yesterday was a true testament to the way my body reacts to irritants. And also how seasonal allergies are really connected to intestinal health.
Last night for dinner we (Mike and I) had lemon pepper shrimp with brown rice. I don't think that shrimp are allowed in the clean program. And lemon pepper seasoning (the premade kind that I used) is definitely not allowed. I paid the price for it.
After dinner I was sneezing up a storm. It was bad. I went back and read the label on the lemon pepper seasoning...yellow number 5 was one of the ingredients. Who the hell knows what that shit is (I know what it is but I'm using hyperbole to emphasize how toxic that ingredient is.) It included "natural flavoring" which I'm sure added to the disarray my intestines were in after dinner.
I decided to go for a nice long walk. I would have gone running but I'm still dealing with plantar fasciitis. I went for a 5 mile power walk and the skies were just absolutely beautiful.
I'm still leaving 12 hours in between the last meal of the night and the first of the next day. However, the past two nights of the elimination phase I left 14-15 hours in between those meals to detox further. Especially because of how bad my allergies were yesterday. Whew.
Now I am on Day 1 of Clean. So far so good. For breakfast I made a green smoothie with almond milk, coconut water, two leaves of kale, 1/4 of an avocado, and 1/2 a cup of mango. It was delicious. And surprisingly very filling. However, I have noticed a decrease in my appetite this past week. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. =)
The sad part of all of this for me to admit (especially as someone who likes to think of herself as pretty active) is that this morning I woke up a little sore from the 5 mile power walk yesterday. My energy is definitely diminished from the elimination. I'm hoping as I progress through Clean I'll notice an increase in my energy levels at some point.
Although I'm continuing to keep in mind that rest is a recommended aspect of the program. The busy body in me is in denial of this, however. But I know I'll have to come to terms with it soon enough.
I took my supplements (which I still need to explain, I apologize for this), did the skin brushing, the hot cold plunge in the shower, and took a daily photo of myself. There are still some things on the list for the day but they'll be checked off by the end of it. =)
The breakfast I had this morning though did give me a little boost of energy (for the time being at least). So I'm going to use it to play some tennis with my boyfriend this afternoon. We can't pass up on this 80 degree weather! It's beautiful outside.
Later on I'll have to write about the supplements and lunch time meal! (Which I'm really excited about!)
Keep taking great care of yourselves! xoxo
